US files new torture charges against Nicolas Maduro of Venezuela and his wife Celia Flores

The United States on Thursday charged ousted Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife Celia Flores with conspiring to commit torture, adding to drug trafficking and firearms charges. Prosecutors claim that detainees, including American citizens, suffered waterboarding, rape and beatings. The two remained in custody in the US after a military raid in January.
