Hundreds of schools in France remained closed as student protests turned violent

About 400 French schools were closed and will remain closed on Friday, as student protests that began in high schools in the Paris region last week spread across France and turned violent. The students are protesting grievances including a shortage of teachers and dilapidated school buildings. The government blamed the hard left for initiating the movement.
