EU vows to fine €120m on X-day after US backs Musk's challenge

The European Union announced on Friday that it would seek a 120 million euro fine against social network X after the US Justice Department said it supported X owner Elon Musk's efforts to drop the case. The bloc fined the platform in 2025 for breaching EU online transparency rules, notably with its blue "verification" mark on pay-to-play.
