France's National Assembly narrowly approved a proposed tax of €0.055 per gigabyte of data sent to French users, targeting tech giants such as Google, Meta, Amazon and Netflix to raise an estimated €10 billion a year. The measure is an amendment to the Finance Bill of 2027 and is not yet a fully enacted law.
