Less than a year has passed since the first discussions about sending data centers and GPUs into space reached the general public. Starcloud has already verified for several months that the H100 they launched works and can train small models in orbit. Recently, Google, as part of the Suncatcher project, also launched their TPUs into orbit, and today for the first time they sent a request to the language model and received a response from it in the form of a haiku. We await mass launch of GPU crabs into orbit via starship. One day I will tell my grandchildren that a cloud was called a "cloud" long before it was in the sky above us.
