from Suez to Hormuz; Graveyard of Dreams of Two Western Powers Analytical website "Chasha" in an article written by one of its researchers, by examining the similarities between the current crisis in the Strait of Hormuz and the Suez Canal crisis in 1956, addressed the question of whether today's developments could also be a sign of a change in the balance of power in the world and limiting the ability of great powers to advance their geopolitical goals. Recalling the failure of Great Britain and France in the Suez incident and the subsequent decline in London's global standing, this article argues that the Hormuz crisis once again exposed the gap between the countries' military power and economic power and raised difficult questions about the limits of American power. At the end of the article, the author emphasizes that one of the most important lessons of the Suez crisis is the inability of political leaders to understand the economic limitations of geopolitical ambitions. In 1956, despite its military power, Britain could not achieve its goals in Egypt without the necessary economic and financial support, and this crisis helped reveal the decline of this country's global position. - Link.
