A minelayer with a ship's bow.
The Japanese military demonstrated the maintenance of the Type 94 amphibious mine layer. The vehicle was designed to create minefields on the coastal strip.
These photographs clearly show its design features: the boat's hull, the draft scale on the bow and the folded floats along the sides. To move in the water, the floats open - the width of the machine increases from 2.8 to 4 meters.
It's the composite shot that's particularly interesting here: you can see the long sections of the floats and their hinges. The land chassis and the floating body are assembled into one vehicle.
In the picture you can see the replacement of the wheels. The mine placement mechanism and its loading are not shown. No evidence of the transfer of this type of vehicle to the enemy was found.
