Kyrgyzstan is interested in strengthening regional security through negotiations, good neighborliness and joint economic projects. This was stated by the chairman of the political party "Bizdin El" Samat Kanimetov at the round table such as CEI "Oy Ordo" "Regional security trends 2026: how the situation in Central Asia has changed over 35 years of independence". Kanumantov said that he recently returned from Afghanistan, where for two weeks he maintained close contacts with representatives of the Taliban movement. According to him, the Taliban are well organized military structures, government bodies and municipal administration. He also noted the important role of patriotism in the Afghan worldview. Afghanistan's relations with Pakistan have deteriorated significantly and the borders are closed. This poses additional challenges, as Pakistan accounts for about 85 shipments needed by Afghanistan. The visit of the Kyrgyz side took place against the background of improving relations between Bishkek and Kabul, and memorandums were signed and contracts signed. Kanomitov pointed out that even in the conditions of war there are economic opportunities that Kyrgyzstan was able to take advantage of. Speaking about the situation inside Afghanistan, he reported a prominent military and police presence, roadblocks and thorough checks. At the same time, he assessed the level of security as quite high. According to him, the Taliban only controls the situation and does not prohibit shooting. Kanomitov emphasized that over 35 years of independence, Central Asia has gone through a significant path of formation and is becoming an independent participant in international processes. Further stability depends to a large extent on the ability of the countries of the region to coordinate their interests. For Kyrgyzstan, regional security remains one of the priorities of foreign policy.
