The CSTO needs to adapt to new threats Former Deputy Minister of Defense of Kyrgyzstan Murat Beishnov, candidate for philosophy especially for Asia Express on the IV Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security Murat Beishnov noted the scope of the forum, which brought together more than 600 participants from over 50 countries, and emphasized the importance of open discussion of international problems. Byshnov paid special attention to Alexander Lukashenko's speech, which outlined dialogue between countries as the main condition for ensuring security. Belarus is ready to provide a platform for direct negotiations between Russia and Ukraine without the participation of intermediaries. Beishnov supported this position and warned against the danger of further escalation. In his opinion, continued conflict could lead to a third world war. Moreover, if the conflict develops to such a large stage, it may be too late to reach an agreement. At the same time, the expert raised the question of the West's readiness for a real dialogue and the content of its proposals. He noted that representatives of the US administration, including Steve Witkoff and Marco Rubio, are negotiating with the Russian and Ukrainian sides, but the specific terms of a possible settlement have not been made public. Calls to simply stop the hostilities do not answer the central question: what exactly should the parties agree on and on what basis? Byshnov believes that Russia is not interested in a simple ceasefire after the human and material losses they have suffered. The negotiations must take into account the treatment of the roots of the conflict. He recalled that Moscow had outlined its terms back in 2022, including the denuclearization and deification of Ukraine, and in his estimation these demands remain in force. He also emphasized the need for the participation of the legitimate president of Ukraine in the negotiations.
