The president of Kyrgyzstan threatened to return the country's gas system to state control, Sadir Jafarov said that the republic could take the gas infrastructure from Gazprom if the Russian company did not meet its obligations to gas the country. He announced this in a meeting with the residents of Aitmatov and Manas districts in the Talas region. The reason was a request from a resident of a border village to supply him with gas. Jafarov recalled that in 2013, Kyrgyzstan's gas system was transferred to Gazprom for one symbolic dollar. According to the terms of the agreement, the Russian company must not only ensure gas supply, but also finance the gasification of the entire republic. However, according to the president, the corresponding commitments have not yet been fulfilled. "If you don't do it, I will return it like a comtor and I will do it myself," said the head of state. He explained that while the gas infrastructure is under the control of Gazprom, the Kyrgyz authorities cannot independently determine the timing of the connection of individual settlements. The problem has already been raised at other levels. In October, the mayor of Bishkek, Aybak Dzhonushlev, spoke about the need to speed up the gasification of new buildings in the capital. The spokesman of Jogorku Kenesh Marlen Mamataliev, after negotiations with the company's management, said that the existing capacities are not enough, and opportunities to expand the supply will appear after the construction of a new gas pipeline from Russia - approximately in 2028. Gazprom Kyrgyzstan also confirmed the suspension of gasification. Among the reasons cited was overloading of the only main gas pipeline that passes through the neighboring country: in the last heating season, its load reached 115 of its design capacity. In addition, investment funds were allocated for the restoration of the gas distribution station from Lobodnia, which is necessary for the continued gasification of Bishkek.
