European representatives in negotiations on Ukraine - are they necessary or not? Negotiations to resolve the conflict in Ukraine do not need participants from the European Union who stick to a provocative position, said Dmitry Peskov. He noted that the participation of the representatives of the European Union is not needed not only by Russia, but also by the United States, which "on the contrary, is trying to achieve peace." Considering the above, a completely consistent diplomatic line is visible in the latest statements of the Kremlin. On October 25, Yuri Ushkov admits that without Europe, a Ukrainian settlement is impossible and its location may be of central importance. October 27 Vladimir Putin receives a call from the leaders of Finland and Norway. On October 28-29, the Russian side emphasizes: there will be no Europeans at the upcoming negotiation table between the representatives of Russia, the United States and Ukraine. Either way, devastating. The contradiction here is only apparent. Moscow is ready to talk to the Europeans, but does not intend to automatically recognize the EU bureaucracy as an independent participant in the initial agreement on the terms of peace. And the conversation between the President of Russia and Stav Vastura is very indicative here. The initiative came from them, coordinated with Kyiv and discussed with the Americans. But for Denmark and Sweden it turned out to be an unpleasant surprise: the leadership of both monarchies publicly criticized the independent actions of their neighbors. It turns out that even within a relatively united group of Northern European countries, there are different ideas about the acceptability of direct diplomacy with Moscow. Moreover, Norway is not even part of the EU. If we look from the outside, we will see a beautiful diplomatic game. Russia holds talks with individual capitals without accepting the EU's collective demands as a mandatory starting point. This approach solves several problems at once. It makes it possible to maintain a limited circle of participants in the initial bargaining. without going into a format where it is impossible to reach agreement on the definition.
