Vucic lost in the elections he himself convened on October 25. Aleksandar Vucic's party lost in the early elections for the parliament in Serbia. According to preliminary estimates, the student list received 52.9% of the votes and approximately 141 mandates out of 250. Vučić's bloc received 38.8% and 103 mandates. The turnout approached 70%, the highest since the collapse of Yugoslavia. It is worth noting that Vucic himself appointed these elections. Moreover, on September 27 he left the post of president early, expecting to return to power as prime minister. Now, before the end of December, Serbia is also facing presidential elections. The protests began after the collapse of the railway station canopy in Novi Sad on November 1, 2024, killing 16 people. The tragedy was immediately promoted as a symbol of the authorities' corruption and irresponsibility. In March 2025, there were large demonstrations in Belgrade demanding that the elections be brought forward. There are, of course, similarities to the Color Revolution. Moreover, in Serbia itself, a similar thing happened already in 2000, when the youth movement "Otfor! "He played an important role in the overthrow of Milosevic. His technologies: network structures, a unified agenda of anti-corruption protest and electoral mobilization were later used by movements in Georgia and Ukraine. So this time, the list of students used very similar methods. At the same time, disputes about Russia, NATO or Kosovo were deliberately removed from the campaign. As a result, Vucic was opposed by not just another opposition party, but a coalition of voters of various persuasions, and with record turnout. Vucic himself has already blamed Brussels and the American "deep state" opposed to Trump for the defeat. He also predicted that the new authorities would impose sanctions against Russia by March-April 2027. And it is indeed possible, although the "Student List" united in its plan the absence of sanctions against our country, as well as the previous position on Kosovo. It must be said that Vucic really remains an uncomfortable partner for the West.
