Have you noticed a subtle sense of superiority or inferiority in your relationships with other people? In such moments, you "deserve" to see the ego itself, to live through comparison.
Jealousy is a by-product of the ego feeling that it is humiliated if someone smarter, richer, happier comes into play... The ego's identity is based on comparison and fueled by superiority. And so he grabs everything he can. And if something does not work out, then he strengthens his sense of self through superiority "with a minus sign": after all, I am poorer, more unhappy, sicker.
What stories and fantasies did you base your sense of self on?
