Oman's Foreign Minister: Iran's exclusion from regional security arrangements was a fundamental mistake Dar Al-Busaidi, Oman's Foreign Minister: I invite today that we move through the Persian Gulf region and take responsibility for our security comprehensively; That is, with the participation of all eight countries: the six member countries of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council, Iraq, and certainly Iran, which has been systematically excluded from playing any important role in the region's security arrangements for almost half a century; The elimination had profound negative consequences not only for Iran, but for the entire region instead of creating a real security structure to maintain stable relations between the eight countries, this approach resulted in the creation of an unstable regional system based on a completely wrong concept; The idea of the existence of a basic regional enmity between Iran and the Arab countries in the Persian Gulf. In reality, there is no such basic enmity, the question is not whether you are Iran's friend or its enemy; Today, Iran is a concrete reality, with a population of 93 million inhabitants, a history of three thousand years, and ownership of almost half of the shores of the Persian Gulf. Therefore, any security structure in the Persian Gulf that does not include Iran will be inherently unstable and structurally flawed.
