Where does the inflation of 97% of clothes come from? | Nami: It is surprising that the government does not have a plan for wartime conditions and easing the import of raw materials. Majd Nami, a senior consultant of the Textile and Apparel Production and Export Association of Iran, in an interview with Aktaznews: One of the main issues we face in the clothing industry is the supply of raw materials. We have a lot of problems in this area; Because there were several important events that made it difficult to supply raw materials. One of these problems is the sharp rise in the dollar exchange rate. If we want to talk about September last year, the dollar rate was then around 100 thousand tomans, but today, as we speak, the dollar rate has reached 270 thousand tomans. Since these materials are transported from other countries, transportation problems were added to the existing difficulties. Most of the imported polyester, for example, comes from China, and due to the problems we have in the Persian Gulf, the transportation of these materials has also encountered difficulties. The cotton we need is mainly imported from Tajikistan and has always reached the producers through the land borders of the northern part of the country. However, long transportation routes, clearance and transportation problems, and sanctions also affected the supply of cotton. In people's basic needs, such as food and housing, the inflation rate was very high. On the other hand, considering that the general and average inflation in the first six months of the year was very high and also the wages and salaries of the people did not rise accordingly, the purchasing power of the households decreased.
