Khojatullah Ayoubi, former head of Iran's Cinema Organization and former cultural consultant in France, said that at the height of the nuclear crisis, Ali Larijani planned to travel to Paris to meet French officials. According to Ayoubi, the preparations for the trip were made through his personal connections and Rejani was supposed to meet with Jacques Chirac, then president of France. Ayoubi said: "All the preparations were made, but in the 90th minute Mr. Ahmadinejad stopped the trip and Mr. Jalili arrived in France instead."
