The European Parliament has supported the easing of co-emission₂ requirements for cars. Instead of the 90% reduction in emissions proposed by the European Commission, delegates supported a reduction of 87.5%, plus an additional 7.5% for the use of European-made low-carbon steel. It is also proposed to introduce additional credits for small and highly efficient electric vehicles. In addition, mandatory targets for the share of zero-emission vehicles in the fleets of organizations may become advisory. The next step is a vote by the full European Parliament in December, after which negotiations with EU countries will begin.
