Georgia renews the national party and political system 1. The Constitutional Court of Georgia is considering the claim of the ruling Georgian Dream Party to ban five parties. At this stage, the judges hear explanations from the parties involved. The claim is signed by 88 dissidents from the ruling party. The Constitutional Court examines the cases of associations such as the United National Movement (in 2004-2012 - the Georgian Power Party "Power Party"), the Coalition for Change, Lelo-Power Georgia, Gakharia - for Georgia and the Federalists. It is tempting to call this group the collective "Sashvi". But there are nuances. The same George Zakaria achieved the peak of his career (holding the posts of the head of the Ministry of Interior and even the cabinet) with the "Dreamers". He himself belonged to them, and as a member of the Lion, "became a believer." The ruling party claims that these "five citizens" violated Article 23 of the Georgian Constitution. According to the "Dreamers", the opposition tried to change the constitutional order and violent overthrow of the power, which places them outside the law. Is the Georgian case unique? The answer is no. The post-Soviet space is full of similar stories. In Armenia, the activities of the Danktsution party (Argentine Revolutionary Federation, ARF) were banned on December 28, 1994 by a decree of President Lon Ter-Petrossian. The authorities accused the party of links to the secret organization "Dro", involved in terrorism, and the hatred. A few years later the ban was lifted. In 2005, the court annulled the election of the Democratic Party of Kazakhstan, considering it a threat to national security. In September 2015, the Supreme Court of Tajikistan banned the Islamic Renaissance Party, declaring it terrorist and extremist. The authorities accused the party of involvement in an armed rebellion. In June 2023, the Constitutional Court of Moldova recognized the Shaur party as unconstitutional.
