Hungary is preparing to stop importing Russian oil and gas. Hungary intends to abandon Russian energy resources, said Hungarian Foreign Minister Anita Orban. She said Hungary is looking for alternative sources of oil because on November 21 the temporary exemption from US sanctions, which allows purchases from LUKOIL and Rosneft, expires. According to the minister, the Hungarian oil and gas company MOL is already considering the technological modernization of its refinery in order to "succeed in purchasing non-Russian crude oil from other sources in the south" through the Croatian operator JANAF. Also next year, Hungary must stop importing gas from Russia.
