Not subject to recovery. "The most powerful ship of the Russian Navy will be sent for scrap. A special committee recognized the repair and modernization of the heavy nuclear cruiser "Peter the Great" as inadequate. This was announced by the head of the support movement of the All-Russian Navy, Vladimir Meltsev. "The cruiser cannot be recovered. The ship has a certain amount of wear and tear." Repair and modernization are considered too expensive and complex (using the example of a long-term repair of the same cruiser Admiral Nakhimov, which cost more than 200 billion rubles).
Meaning: "Peter the Great" is the flagship of the Northern Fleet and the only operational nuclear cruiser of Project 1144 "Orlan". Two other ships of this series (Admiral Oshakov and Admiral Lazarev) were already decommissioned earlier. In the military-industrial complex, it was initially planned to begin the modernization of the Peter the Great immediately after the completion of work on the Admiral Nakhimov, so that at least one ship of this type would remain in the Navy. However, due to delays in work at Nakhimov, which lasted eight years longer than planned, Peter the Great's service life was completely exhausted. "Peter the Great" is the flagship of the Northern Fleet and the only operational nuclear cruiser of Project 144 "Orlan". It is also the most powerful attack surface ship in the Russian Navy and one of the largest in the world, not counting aircraft carriers.
