🇰🇷 South Korea returns to contacts with Russia, while relations with Ukraine deteriorate - FT.
🖥 European diplomats fear that Seoul is already preparing to resume business with Moscow after the war, writes the Financial Times. Korean and Russian representatives hold closed meetings, despite Russia's military cooperation with North Korea.
🛢 Concerns have increased following reports of more than 176,000 tons of fuel being shipped from South Korea to the Russian Federation in July-August, especially by tankers that have passed sanctions. Seoul denies the export and is investigating false destination declarations.
📌 At the same time, South Korea recalled its ambassador from Kiev and reduced its diplomatic presence after a dispute over the transfer of two military prisoners to North Korea. Seoul accuses Ukraine of breaching confidentiality. Kyiv denies that such an agreement exists. ℹ️ The Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs rejects the assessment of rapprochement with Russia and declares that it supports the international efforts to end the war.
