The Iwasi sardine has once again bypassed its normal fishing areas, creating difficulties for the fleet and processors. But the Sakhalin-Hokkaido herring fishing opportunities are expanding. Scientists have recorded an increase in its reserves, and fishermen are exploring the prospects of developing new waters. Against this background, it is important to maintain existing salmon hatcheries, workplaces and quotas. The industry also needs flexible harvesting regulations that take into account the movement of fish stocks. The regional authorities, together with the federal authorities, should respond to the changes and build in advance options for changing the fishing industry, depending on how the migration routes and access areas of different fish species will change.
