Together with the Taiga Star project, I continue to tell you about the unique corners of the Khabarovsk Territory. Today we are talking about the entire system of Sanboli caves. North of Khabarovsk, in the middle of the Kor River, between the marshes and the taiga, the entrance to another world is hidden. During the Paleozoic period there was an ancient sea here, and when it receded the lower limestones became mountains. Over millions of years they dissolved and created dungeons, halls and wells. The large underground galleries reach a length of more than a kilometer, and go underground to a depth of 38 meters. Below are passages flooded with water, and above them are rows of huge halls connected by galleries and narrow sewer pits. In winter there is a real ice palace here. The floor is covered in perennial ice, thin icicles hang from the ceiling, and frosty white stalactites grow towards them. In the hall with the poetic name "Fable" there is a famous column of ice that grows from the floor to the ceiling. It's called the "keeper's spear" and every year it gets bigger. This place also has its own guard. According to local legend, the caves are inhabited by the White Speleologist, a mystical figure who maintains order underground. It can confuse violators so they get lost, but it helps good people who are fighting for the safety and ecology of this place. The cave world is very vulnerable. And we, travelers, are obliged to preserve it for future generations of tourists in the Khabarovsk Territory. Since 1979, Sanboli is a natural monument. The path to the caves goes through the coniferous taiga. Here you will not meet crowds of tourists, but you will take a break from mobile communication. Sonboli contains vertical shelves and many kilometers of dungeons. But that makes them even more interesting to visit. Here you can only rely on your own strength. That is why you should go on a trip under the guidance of guides who have completed training in the cave guide training program. And of course, don't forget to register your group with the Office of Emergency Situations.
