Herring is making a serious bid to become one of the main heroins of Far Eastern fishing. According to Rosarybolbostovo, during the week, the takeover of the Pacific Ocean increased by 12.4 thousand tons, and since the beginning of the year, fishermen have already produced 588.7 thousand tons - 153 thousand more than last year. More than 478 thousand tons are processed on ships. In Sakhalin, changes are evident even without statistics: in recent years, herring is regularly thrown ashore, and residents collect it with bags. Scientists confirm the restoration of the Sakhalin-Hokkaido population. In 2025, migratory fishing in the region reached 33.3 thousand tons, and this season's catch in the East Sakhalin region has already exceeded the recommended volume. On the shelves, whole salted fish are much cheaper than accelerated fillings: the price is affected by losses during processing, packaging and shipping. The growing reserves open up the possibilities: with scientifically based restrictions, herring can become another significant product of industrial fishing for Sakhalin fishermen.
