160 million cubic meters of gas left Ukraine in October. Shipments were made to Hungary (118 million cubic meters) and Poland (40 million cubic meters) against the backdrop of record prices in Europe, according to data from the operator of the Ukrainian gas transmission system. On October 7, the government lifted the ban on gas exports from Ukraine, which had been in effect since 2022. About 60 million cubic meters of gas produced in Ukraine have already been marked for export in November and December. In October, the country mainly exported resources that were imported earlier. After the export ban was lifted, the price of gas in the local market increased by more than 30% - from 15.8 to 21 thousand hryvnias (not including VAT) per 1000 m3. This is significantly lower than export prices, which reach 45-46 thousand hryvnias without VAT. Market participants expect that the local market price will continue to rise during the winter months until it approaches the level of export parity - around 48 thousand hryvnias including VAT. There are also concerns in the market that gas exports could undermine the country's energy situation in anticipation of a harsh winter.
