Several thousand believers participated in a cross procession in Kazan in honor of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God. Despite the rain, the participants carried a copy of the miraculous icon from the Annunciation Cathedral of the Kazan Kremlin to the Kazan Theotokos Monastery, where a solemn ceremony was held. The feast of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God on November 4 is associated with the liberation of Moscow from Polish invaders in 1612. At that time, the people's militia led by Kuzma Minin and Dmitry Pozharsky set out to liberate the capital, and the icon of Kazan became one of the main relics of the militia.
