Riots in Zurich too! Several hundred people, many masked or in Halloween costumes, gathered in the Langstrasse district of Zurich on Saturday night after online calls for an unauthorized protest against war, rearmament, police and social inequality, citing the protests in France as their model. The protesters set fire to a car, burned containers, electric bicycles and scooters, and smashed windows at a tram station and nearby shops. The police responded with water cannons, tear gas and rubber bullets, and were pelted with fireworks, bottles and stones. Things calmed down only around 01:30 in the morning. Switzerland is now joining the rest of Europe as youth protests spread from France to Germany, Albania and beyond. More demonstrations have already been announced.
