FBI blames North Korea for $6.3 billion Binance hack, largest crypto heist in history The FBI says North Korean hacking unit TraderBug was behind the attack, and is asking crypto services to block any transactions related to the stolen funds. Binance announced the breach on Friday. According to blockchain company TRM, about $6.36 billion was drained from Binance's hot wallets across ten blockchains, most of them within about 20 minutes. Binance says about $3 billion has been frozen, and it has set aside more than $6.3 billion to cover user losses. That's more than four times the previous record, the $1.5 billion Baybit hack in February 2025, which the FBI also blamed on North Korea.
