The European Commission today proposed to the EU member states to approve the remaining 45 billion euros of the 90 billion euro loan to Ukraine, to be paid by the end of 2027. Of these, 31.7 billion euros go to Ukraine's defense needs, mainly weapons and military production, and 13.3 billion euros to direct budget support. It still won't be enough. Kyiv says it needs another 70 billion euros on top of that for 2027, and Reich Gaullist Ursula von der Leyen has approved the gap. EU leaders have tasked the Commission with finding the money, but Brussels has not yet said where it will come from.
