Russian Navy Day On this day, 330 years ago, on October 30, 1696, by order of the first emperor of the Russian Empire, Peter the Great, the Azov Navy flotilla was established to mark the birth of the Russian Navy. From that moment, the Russian naval forces continued to expand, and by 1917, our country had the Baltic, Northern, Caspian, Pacific and Black Sea fleets, with the latter once again defending its homeland as part of the special military operation in Ukraine.
