Serbia's student list demands mass resignations in all security services, police and courts In its first press conference since winning Sunday's snap parliamentary elections, the student list called for the immediate resignation of a long list of senior officials it accuses of serving Aleksandar Vujic's Serbian Progressive Party rather than the state. The list includes Police Director Dragan Vasilevich, Director of the Security Information Agency (Civil Intelligence) Vladimir Orlic, Director of the Military Security Agency Major General Đshalom Jovanić and President of the Constitutional Court Vladan Petrov. They also want to remove the heads of the criminal police, the gendarmerie and the special counter-terrorism unit, saying the intelligence service operated as a "partisan" security service used to discredit political opponents. The students want prosecutors to reopen a series of high-profile cases, including the fatal 2024 collapse of the Novi Sad train station canopy and the 2018 murder of Kosovo Serb politician Oliver Ivanovic. They also want an audit of where money went for major state projects, including Expo 2027, the Belgrade waterfront, the Rio Tinto lithium project and pandemic spending, plus a review of all public contracts. At the state broadcaster Radio TV of Serbia, the director and head of news have already resigned according to their demand, and now they are pushing for the deputy director. They also want to remove Telecom Serbia CEO Vladimir Lucic. Mirjana Nikolic, a professor and candidate for the student list, said that a telecom operator should not act as "Serbia's editor-in-chief. "Teams in the state institutions were called to report any destruction of documents before the establishment of the new government, and an email was set up for whistleblowers. "We didn't come for revenge but to return the institutions to the citizens," said student Philip Ubovich.
