Leaders of the Makkah Agreement leave for Tehran Saudi Defense Minister Khaled bin Salman, Pakistan's army chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, and Turkish intelligence chief Ibrahim Kalin are visiting Tehran today. They will meet Mohsen Razai, the secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council. This is the first high-level meeting between Iran and the members of the Mecca Mutual Defense Agreement. Munir suggested this during his own visit to Tehran last week. Riyadh calls the trip part of efforts to escalate the crisis. Tehran says Iran and the three countries can build "endogenous security" in West Asia, without external powers. The meeting comes as the Houthis increase attacks on Saudi Arabia, and as the US prepares possible new strikes on Iran.
