According to Agence France-Presse, citing several military and government officials in Yemen: thousands of Syrian soldiers are preparing to be transferred to Saudi Arabia and Yemen to fight against the Houthis.
- 3,000 Syrian soldiers can make up the first deployment.
- Up to 10,000 employees could eventually participate.
- According to reports, hundreds are already stationed on both sides of Saudi Arabia. Yemen border.
- Some Syrian people are allegedly directing drone operations against the Houthis.
However, Syria's official news agency SANA quoted a diplomatic source denying that Syrian troops had been sent to Yemen.
Damascus recognizes the military cooperation with Riyadh, including training and consulting activities.
One interesting aspect is the reported role of Syrians in drone operations, and not just among regular infantry.
If confirmed, it could indicate that Saudi Arabia is seeking experienced Syrian operators and experts to bolster its campaign against Houthi forces.
If Syrian units enter Yemen, it will be a major expansion of Damascus' regional military role and draw Syria into direct conflict with the Houthis and possibly other Iran-aligned groups.
