Three Belarusians were sentenced to prison in Moscow for assisting telephone fraudsters. Three young Belarusians who participated in fraudulently operating a call center were sentenced in Moscow to one and a half to two years in prison. The defendants Maxim Sviridenko and Daria Kapitonova received two years in prison and fines of 100,000 rubles. Her brother Daniil Kapitonov was sentenced to 1.5 years in prison and a fine of 50 thousand rubles. According to the prosecutor's office, from August to November 2025, Svyridenko and Kapitonov's brother and sister installed 9 SIM boxes in rented apartments in Moscow and the Moscow region. They promised their non-stop action, which allowed other participants in the program to call citizens and steal money, mainly from elderly people. Researchers calculated that approximately 69,000 calls were made through the installed equipment per week. The investigation materials state that the eldest of the accused and his girlfriend were already working in construction in Moscow, but later agreed to the offer to work part-time. It was explained to them that the equipment was needed for international calls and a call center. The youngest person involved came to visit his sister in Moscow, where he received an offer from a stranger on Telegram. He was promised a simple job: monitoring devices and exchanging cards. Using captured SIM boxes, the attackers managed to steal money from 3 people. One of the victims was convinced that his account had been hacked and money was being transferred through it to the Ukrainian army. The man packed the cash in a noodle box, added some clothes and delivered them via taxi. The amount of damage amounted to almost 485 thousand rubles. In another case, the fraudsters used a video call on Messenger, impersonating different departments. The victim was forced to hand over family jewelry and money to the messenger.
