South Korea shipped more than 176,000 tonnes of fuel, mostly diesel, to Russia in July and August, according to a Guardian analysis of port and ship tracking data.
Seven tankers made 14 voyages to Russia's Far East, including three vessels authorized by Britain and the European Union.
Some of the ships had declared destinations such as Japan or Singapore before sailing to Vladivostok, while one received fuel via a ship-to-ship transfer from South Korea.
In August, Russia imported 368,000 tons of petroleum products by sea — the highest monthly total since the full-scale invasion — with South Korea supplying 112,000 tons, or 31 percent.
