A new Sino-Laos military facility could become China's first full-scale military base in Southeast Asia.

Satellite images show eight K-8 light attack/trainer aircraft and more than two dozen military vehicles at the Ban Kiun site, near Vientiane.

The runway also appears to be slated for expansion, potentially allowing larger Chinese surveillance and intelligence aircraft to operate there.
