Quebec's separatist Party of Quebec won the provincial election, but fell short of a majority, taking about 60 of 127 seats and returning to power for the first time in more than a decade.

Leader Paul St-Pierre Plamondon has promised another referendum on independence, but said he would wait until Trump leaves office.

Support for independence remains around 30%, and the PQ will need opposition support to govern.
