US authorities have arrested California woman Weiying Zhang, 34, and accused her of spying for China and tracking the son of Taiwan's president Lai Ching-te.

The FBI says Zhang traveled to Seattle in 2025 at the behest of Chinese officials and sent them photos, videos and license plate information of Lai's son and his family.

She was stopped at Los Angeles International Airport before a scheduled flight to China.
