Brazil's presidential election goes into a second round on October 25.
Flavio Bolsonaro (son of jailed former president Jair Bolsonaro) led the first round with 47% to incumbent Lula's 45%, a gap of about 2.2 million votes that exceeded most poll predictions.
Bolsonaro's PL party also won the largest congressional bloc.
In Sao Paulo, Bolsonaro's ally, Tarcísio de Freitas, was re-elected governor with around 63%.
