German Chancellor Mertz made a surprise visit to Kiev, reaffirming Berlin's support for Ukraine.

Germany will provide €1 billion in military aid and €350 million for energy repairs, while completing a joint drone deal with Ukraine.

Merz said Germany would continue to support Kiev, and warned that Russia's "war machine" could eventually turn against Europe.
