The Trump administration's Ukraine talks with Russia have expanded to include a multi-billion dollar deal for Lukoil's international assets.
Putin raised the deal with Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner during a meeting in the Kremlin on September 5, pitching it as a way to rebuild US-Russia business ties.
The leading bidder is a group involving Trump donor Todd Buhly, Qatari investors with business ties to Kushner, an Abu Dhabi-based foundation linked to Sheikh Tahnoon and the US government.
There is no indication that Kushner or Witkoff will benefit personally, but the overlapping business ties have raised concerns of a conflict of interest.
