We care about far less things than the ultimate doomsday scenario, and I'm afraid that's the kind of people who get distracted.

There is no current risk of these AIs getting completely out of control. The thing he flashes: has to do with bad guys using AI, not AI acting on its own.

In a way, I'd say it's good that these loss-of-control incidents made people focus on AI, even though it's not the immediate risk.
