Swiss voters overwhelmingly rejected a proposal to tighten the country's neutrality rules, with around 70% voting against it.

The initiative would define neutrality as "permanent and armed", limit cooperation with military alliances such as NATO, and allow sanctions against countries at war only with the approval of the UN Security Council.

The result preserves Switzerland's current approach, allowing it to cooperate in security and impose sanctions while staying out of military alliances.
