A former accountant in Surat, India burned $2.7 million worth of textile stock of more than $120 in unpaid wages.

Vinod Sable, 33, bought gasoline for $1.80, entered the textile market after hours and set fire to fabric outside his former employer's store.

The fire spread across the sixth floor, extinguishing the shops of four merchants.

He fled to Rajasthan and Ayodhya before being arrested two weeks later.

He told police he didn't expect the fire to spread that far.
