BIG: Several men have been arrested under the Explosives Act after what was declared a "major incident" near RAF Fairford, a UK base that hosts the US Air Force.

Homes in Walford were evacuated while army bomb disposal experts examined a number of vehicles. The police said that the incident appeared to be contained.

RAF Fairford has been used to station US bombers since the conflict in Iran began on 28 February.
