Canada's position regarding Iran is unequivocal. Iran is the main threat to peace and security in its region. It is forbidden to acquire nuclear weapons.

Its threats to navigation rights in the Strait of Hormuz are a direct violation of international law. We join our partners in the Gulf and in Europe in strongly condemning Iran's attacks in the region.

And Canada is deploying every tool available, including the targeted sanctions I announced this week, to confront the Iranian regime's abhorrent behavior.
