A town in East Germany (Heidenau, near Dresden) voted in favor of a future ban on holocaust memorial plaques, the copper "Stolperstein" embedded in sidewalks commemorating the victims of the Nazis.
The proposal was jointly accepted by the far-right AfD and the ruling CDU, sparking debate about the CDU's so-called "firewall" against cooperation with the AfD.
