The commander of NATO's top allies in Europe, General Aleksos Grinkic, said that a limited Russian attack on NATO territory was "unlikely but something we cannot rule out".
When asked if Moscow would be able to take advantage of the US after using up much of its long-range precision missile inventory, he said: "Absolutely not. He better not try it on my watch."
