Iranian sources dismissed Kyodo and Reuters reports that Tehran is ready to reopen the Strait of Hormuz within seven days if US military pressure is eased and port blockades are lifted.

The reports, which indicated possible progress in Iran-US negotiations, briefly pushed oil prices down.

Iranian officials called the claims inaccurate and baseless.
