Iran has offered to reopen the Moroz Strait within seven days if the US takes initial steps to ease military pressure, according to an unidentified Iranian source quoted by Japan's Kyodo News.

The proposal, which was reportedly sent to Washington through intermediaries, calls for renewed negotiations towards a permanent end to the fighting.

The source said a deal was still possible but ruled out a meeting between Trump and Pazhakian at the UN General Assembly.
